Kimberley Express & Distribution

Kimberley Express was established by Amanda Knepsheld in 1992 when she saw the need in the market for an express service between Bloemfontein and Kimberley, with its Head Office in Bloemfontein, Free State. Van Dyck Carpets became a client in 1993 and we are proud to say that there still one of our valued clients today. With Van Dyck coming on board in 1993 the Kimberley Express network was expanded. In 2004 we started with a daily route to Lesotho and proud to say that today we are one of the preferred suppliers to deliver into Lesotho.

As the Company progressed, branches were opened in Kimberley, Northern Cape and Upington, Northern Cape. These branches serve as distribution hubs for the surrounding areas, enabling deliveries and collections to and from all regions nationally.
In 2012 Amanda registered the business as a PTY (LTD). In 2012 Adriaan Theisinger, son of Amanda Knepscheld join the Kimberley Express team.  Adriaan has been valuable in every department and help Kimberley Express grow and making sure that Kimberley Express goes from strength to strength.  During 2017 SJ Jansen van Rensburg become part of the team, first as Kimberley Hub Manager and then in 2019 as General Manager and making a big different in various departments and help Kimberley Express looking to the future.

Kimberley Express provides focused distribution services to the Free State, Northern Cape, some towns in the Eastern Cape, Northwest Province and Lesotho. These focussed services include primarily a break-bulk or less than truck load (LTL) service into the areas named above. This service is enabled via our long-distance trucking service from Johannesburg into our regional footprint of 3 cross dock hubs. The cross-dock hubs infrastructure includes the staff, floor space, transport and information technology assets to ensure perfect order fulfilment. In 2020 Kimberley Express made a decision to expand its footprint and to give an even better service to all clients by opening a warehouse in Meadowsdale, Johannesburg.

Kimberley Express offers the total spectrum of courier services, all rendered with a sense of urgency and a touch of flair. So, whether it is a document or parcel, with us it’s “the only route to go”

Kimberley Express understands the importance of warehousing within the wider supply chain. We will store and manage your inventory in our strategically located warehouse hubs to cater for the different needs of customers in all industry segments.
For more than 20 years, Kimberley Express has provided comprehensive logistics, warehousing and shared-value logistics services to a diverse portfolio of customers incorporating our industry experience.

Kimberley Express provides tailored, flexible warehousing services to our client. Kimberley Express provides both dedicated and shared-user warehouses which are controlled with inventory management systems which provide bar coded tracking of stock from receipt through to delivery.

All processes are documented to ensure inventory accuracy, cost reduction and on-time delivery. Our warehouse management systems ensure that the total control of products is maintained from receipt through to final delivery.

Kimberley Express – Imports & Exports

Our Clearing & Forwarding department is an integral part of Kimberley Express as its service offering is key to our supply chain. We have joined a strong forwarding agent, providing representation for our daily routes to Lesotho allowing us to offer Clearing & Forwarding services to and from Lesotho.

Kimberley Express – Same Day Express Service

Same day
A rapid door-to-door service, where collection and delivery take place on the same day to certain major centres. Same day deliveries to regional and remote areas are available on request. Due to the special trip required, this will be quoted separately.

Daybreak
A special service for shipments requiring delivery before 09h00 the next working day to certain major centres in South Africa. Delivery to regional or remote areas may take an additional 24 – 48 hours.

Overnight
A speedy, secure and reliable overnight courier service for shipments requiring delivery before 11h00 the next working day, to certain major centres in South Africa. Delivery to regional or remote areas may take an additional 24 – 48 hours

Kimberley Express – Road Express

Domestic Services
Kimberley Express delivers throughout South Africa. Delivery is achieved within 12 to 96 hours depending on the service you select and the distance from each strategic hub.

Normal Cargo
This service is designed for shipments that may not require the same level of urgency as the express products. Delivery is made within 24-48 hours, depending on the origin and destination, to certain major centres in South Africa. Delivery to regional or remote areas may take an additional 24 – 48 hours.

Budget Cargo
This safe, secure and reliable service is for larger, non-urgent shipments. Deliveries vary between 24 – 72 hours, depending on the origin and destination. Delivery to regional or remote areas may take an additional 24 – 48 hours.

Dedicated Truck Loads
A special service for clients who need to move a large amount of goods that require a dedicated vehicle. Kimberley Express provides the vehicle and the driver who will load, transport and deliver the goods to their final destination. Contact Kimberley Express for more details regarding this service.

Saturday Services
Kimberley Express is able to collect and/or deliver shipments on a Saturday. A surcharge will apply for collection and delivery on a Saturday between 08h00 and 12h00. The surcharge will also apply for attempted deliveries. This service is available to certain major centres in South Africa serviced by scheduled airlines. Saturday delivery to regional or remote areas is available on request and is quoted separately. (Saturday service is not available to Normal and Budget cargo services).

After Hours Service
A surcharge will apply for collection or delivery between the following times. 18h00 – 08h00 (Monday to Saturday) 12h00 Saturday – 08h00 Monday. After hours service is not applicable to Normal Cargo and Budget Cargo services.
